What is a tuxedo?
A tuxedo is a formal evening suit with satin or grosgrain facings on the lapels and buttons, and a satin stripe along the outside seam of the trousers. It is worn with a white dress shirt and a bow tie. The tuxedo is the correct dress for black-tie events.
What are the rules for wearing a tuxedo?
Wear a single-breasted jacket, keep it buttoned, and pair it with a white pintuck shirt. Wear a self-tied black bow tie, not a pre-tied one. Skip the belt and wear braces if needed. Black patent or highly polished leather shoes only.
What is the difference between a tuxedo and a suit?
A tuxedo has satin lapels and satin pocket trim. A business suit has cloth lapels and no trim. A tuxedo is worn with a bow tie; a business suit is worn with a necktie. A tuxedo is for black-tie events; a suit is for business and daytime occasions.

Can I wear a tuxedo without a bow tie?
